Belgium midfielder Arthur Vermeeren has joined RB Leipzig on a permanent basis after completing his terms at Atletico Madrid.

Leipzig signed Vermeeren from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan with an option to buy for an agreed amount and he has become a key player in Marco Rose’s side.

“It was clear at the end of last year that Arthur would be with the team for a long time,” Rose said after Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat at Stuttgart.
“He’s develop a lot for a 19-year-old. He’s come in and fills the position of holding midfielder and always winning the ball back for us.”
For Arthur Vermeeren, he join Atletico Madrid from Antwerp in January last year for €18m plus €5m in bonuses. But only play five La Liga games before being sent out on loan this season and eventually making the move permanent.
The initial loan-to-buy deal was agree last summer. And now the 19-year-old joins RBL from Atletico Madrid on a contract until 2029.
The six-time Belgium international has made 22 competitive appearances so far at Leipzig. And recorded his first assist against Werder Bremen at the weekend. Before his stint in Germany and Spain, Vermeeren came up through the ranks of Royal Antwerp.
There, he made 65 appearances and helped the club win a trifecta of trophies: the league title, Belgian Cup, and Belgian Super Cup in the 2022-23 season.
