Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font is facing defamation charges from Anderson Deco.
Barcelona sporting director Anderson Deco has confirmed he is taking legal action against Victor Font for defamation after the former club presidential candidate claimed there was no transparency in the signing of Vitor Roque from Atlético Paranaense, Ufabet Sport reported on Friday.
Font accused Barcelona of doing dirty business during the signing of Vitor Roque, speaking to RAC1 earlier this week: ‘Irregularities raise suspicions. Let them come out and explain themselves. Vitor Roque was first offer to Barcelona in January 2023, when Mateu Alemany was working as director of football and Jordi Cruyff as sporting director. But the Blaugrana reject the deal on sporting and economic grounds, before it happen a year later, when Deco took over as sporting director, having previously work as a scout at the club.
The deal saw Barcelona pay an initial €30m, plus €31m in bonuses, to sign Vitor Roque. But he only stay at the club for six months before being sent on loan to Real Betis for the season.
